Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent an oil stay and any damage of a sealing member from occurring by forming a passage, for making oil flow into an empty chamber behind a piston, in the bottom of a skirt of the piston operating to regulate the valve on-off timing of an engine. CONSTITUTION:When the valve on-off timing of an engine is quickened, oil is fed to an oil passage 9 and a piston means 3 is shifted to the right via a spring 6, thereby rotating a camshaft 7 unified with a damper case 2 to be engaged with a helical spline for both inner and outer cicumferences of the piston means 3 relatively with a timing pulley 1, thus the valve on-off timing is quickened. In a suchlike valve on-off timing controller, a notch 32 as a passage is formed in a bottom part 31 of a piston sjirt part, oil penetrating into a clearance between both helical splines of the damper case 2 and the piston means 3 is made flowable into an empty chamber 20 by way of this notch 32.
