CONSTITUTION: A perfume composition containing a norbornane derivative expressed by formula I (R1... are 3W10C alkyl, alkenyl or alkylidene group; R2 and R3 are H or methyl; formula II is a single bond or double bond; formula III is a bond which may be present, but R4 and R5 are H, 1W4C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue, phenyl or cyclohexyl when the bond is not present, and R4 formula III R5 is 3W5C alkylene group in total when the bond is present) as an active constituent. The active constituent expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting norbonyl aldehyde expressed by formula IV with a carbonyl compound expressed by formula V in the presence of an aldol condensation catalyst at 0W200°C, dehydrating the resultant reaction product, and reducing the dehydration product.
