Title:
PRODUCTION OF CHELATING RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60135419
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an easily regeneratable chelating resin having a high exchange capacity and an excellent effect of scavenging metal ions, boron and arsenic, by polycondensing a specified aromatic amine with a polyhydroxyalkylaldehyde in the presence of boric acid.

CONSTITUTION: 1mol of an aromatic amine of formula I or II (wherein R is H or a 1W4C alkyl) is polycondensed with 1W5mol of a polyhydroxyalkylaldehyde of formula III (wherein n is 2W6) and 10W1mol of boric acid per mol of the aldehyde in an inert solvent such as o-dichlorobenzene at 50W150°C for 2hr or longer until the reaction is completed. In this reaction, the pH of the reaction medium is kept in an acidic range by the addition of, if necessary, an acid.
