Title:
AMORPHOUS IRON BASE ALLOY WITH EXCELLENT FATIGUE CHARACTERISTICS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5941450
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an amorphous iron base alloy with tensile rupture strength, toughness or the like, inexpensive in stock material cost and excellent in fatigue characteristics, containing P, C, Cr respectively in a predetermined ratio while specifying the sum of P+C and comprising the remainder substantially Fe.

CONSTITUTION: An amorphous iron base alloy comprises 5W22.5 atom% P, 25 atom% or less C, 15W35 atom% P+C, 1.5W35atom% Cr and the remainder substantially Fe. In preparing this alloy, the aforementioned alloy composition is used in a molted state and the molten one may be quenched from a molten state. As this quenching method, for example, in order to obtain a ribbon shaped amorphous alloy, a centrifugal quenching method, a single-roll method or a double- roll method are pref. In addition, this amorphous alloy can be continuously adapted to cold processing and, for example, in order to obtain a uniform amorphous fine wire having high tensile rupture strength and high elongation, a commercial diamond die is used and wire drawing is performed to make it possible to prepare the same economically.
