Title:
PREPARATION OF LEAD IODIDE FOR SOLID ELECTROLYTE CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59141424
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled lead iodide having excellent discharge characteristics, by reacting a water-soluble lead salt with hydroiodic acid (alkali metal salt) in the absence of air.

CONSTITUTION: An inert gas is bubbled in an ion exchanged water to expel the dissolved oxygen from the water. (A) A water-soluble lead salt (e.g. lead nitrate) and (B) hydroiodic acid or its alkali metal salt (e.g. KI) are dissolved separately in the above water. The obtained solutions are mixed together, reacted in an inert gas atmosphere at ≤15°C, especially ≤5°C, and washed with ion- exchanged water free from dissolved oxygen to obtain lead iodide. The molar ratio of (A) to (B) is selected to be higher than the stoichiometric ratio (1/2), i.e. 2/2W20/2. The obtained lead iodide is dried in an inert gas atmosphere or in vacuum at about 200°C for about 24hr.
