PURPOSE: To improve environmental resistance and reliability of a liquid crystal display element, by forming an oriented film by using a polyamic acid solution of a prescribed composition, printing by a letterpress material having a cushion layer and heat curing.
CONSTITUTION: A solution of polyamic acid consisting of benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride and aromatic diamine is applied uniformly on a coating plate 1 form an ink layer 2. A printing drum 4 having a letterpress material 3 in the almost same shape and dimension as those of a desired oriented film pattern is rotated so that ink (polyamic acid solution) of the ink layer 2 is stuck on the material 3. The ink is transferred and heat cured on an object to be printed 5 to obtain an oriented film 6 in a desired pattern. A stabilizing foil 8 of the material 3 prevents deterioration of stabilization of dimension for a relief layer 7 and also deterioration of cushioning owing to infiltration of ink to a cushion layer 9.
