Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve adhesive property with metal housing and make pressure insertion operation feasible by applying pressure insertion liquid and inserting a rubber member into a clearance of a metal housing after applying an adhesive to the roughened surface of the rubber member and desiccating said adhesive.

CONSTITUTION: Both outside and inner surfaces of a rubber ring 6 are roughened by buffing process and then either a thermosetting or a thermoplastic adhesive is applied on the surfaces. After desiccation, pressure insertion liquid having mutual solubility with said adhesive at proper temperature (for instance, process oil) is applied so that the adhesive may be resolved at proper temperature. If the adhesive was resolved at proper temperature, the rubber ring 6 is inserted under pressure into a clearance of a metal housing consisting of a pulley rim 1 and an inner hub 3. Thus the adhesive is caused to harden, adhering both rubber ring and metal housing together in an integral form. Adhesive property with a metal housing is excellent and pressure insertion operation is also feasible because of the roughening of a rubber ring surface.
