PURPOSE: To reduce exhaust resistance, production cost, and exhaust time by airtightly fitting the stem side of a neck or its funnel side to an exhaust manifold in a color picture tube with comparatively large exhaust volume.
CONSTITUTION: Since it is desirable that an exhaust tube 28 should have such length that can be sealed by a heater 34, the exhaust resistance that is not proportional to the cube of the inner diameter of an exhaust tube 28 and is proportional to its length can be reduced, the exhaust time can be reduced, and production and facilities cost can be reduced. Besides, since the exhaust tube 28 is sealed by the heater 34 under the atmospheric pressure within an exhaust manifold 32 = that of the exhaust tube 28, the shape of sealing section can be improved. As a result, cracks are not easy to enter. Besides, the whole structure of the manufacturing device can be simplified and its cost and maintenance work can be reduced.
