Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5935673
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain external parts for a pocket timepiece having superior corrosion and wear resistances and assuming a fine golden color, by implanting gold ions into the surface layers of parts coated with titanium nitride.

CONSTITUTION: Titanium nitride films are formed on external parts made of stainless steel or the like for a pocket timepiece by ionic plating or other method. Gold ions are implanted into the surface coating layers by an ion implantation method, and the implanted gold is optionally diffused by heat treatment in vacuum. The amount of gold used can be made ≤about 1/100 time the amount required by gold plating, and a fine color tone can be provided like gold.
