PURPOSE: To measure correctly an average flow velocity of powdered granules by inputting a fluctuation signal, where low frequency components based on powdered granules having an extremely low flow velocity and high frequency components based on powdered granules having an extremely high flow velocity are removed by converters, to an operating circuit.
CONSTITUTION: The first and the second counter electrodes 7 and 8 are provided on the side face of a duct where powdered granules and a fluid are mixed and flowed. Signals A and B corresponding to changes with time of electrostatic capacities of electrodes 7 and 8 are inputted to the first and the second converters 12 and 13 respectively. Converters 12 and 13 output only fluctuation signal U1 and U2 based on frequency components from about 16Hz to about 160Hz which are included in signals A and B. An operating circuit 11 performs a correlation operation about output signals of converters 12 and 13 to output a signal (v) corresponding to the flow velocity of powdered granules. Thus, the average flow velocity of powdered granules is measured correctly even if there is an uneven distribution of flow velocity of powdered granules in positions of electrodes 7 and 8.
