PURPOSE: To enable the removal of COD and N-S compd. in waste water, by passing the waste water from the 1st column to the 2nd column in the stage of an ion exchange treatment and passing an NaCl soln. reverse in the stage of a regeneration treatment through the two columns packed with strong basic anion exchange resins.
CONSTITUTION: Two columns packed with strong basic anion exchange resins are provided. Waste water from stack gas desulfurization and denitration is passed from the 1st column to the 2nd column in the stage of an ion exchange treatment. An NaCl soln. serving as a regenerating agent is passed from the 2nd column to the 1st column 1 in the stage of a regeneration treatment of the exchange resins. Then if, for example, the same amt. of the resins is packed in the columns 1, 2, and if the regeneration is accomplished at 3 equiv./l-R regeneration level with respect to the amt. of the whole resin, the resins are regenerated at 6 equiv./l-R in the 2nd column 2 and the amt. of the water to be treated by the same is extremely good.
