Abstract:
PURPOSE:To secure wear resistance as well as to improve the joining strength with a base material in terms of quality by forming a sliding member into a two-layer structure consisting of a tip layer being composed of a sintered body and a boundary layer being composed of a nickel or nickel alloy layer and joined to this tip layer and the base material. CONSTITUTION:Tungsten carbide (WC) powder (grain size 1-3mum) and Ni powder (INCO #287) are mixed together so as to make the WC powder become 70wt.% (weight%), and zinc stearate 1% and paraffin 1% are further added, preparing a material for a tip layer 1. First of all, the Ni powder (material for a boundary layer 3) is fed to a powder press machine, and material (WC-Ni radical) for the tip layer 1 is fed to top of the former, then press molding takes place. This compact body is placed on a base material 2 and sintered in a vacuum sintering furnace (a temperature of 1300-1400 deg.C), thus a sintered body (tappet) is secured. Thus, the extent of joining strength with a steel base material is made sufficient enough, getting rid of any possible drop in wear resistance.
