Abstract:
PURPOSE:To damp an impact generated when a head is loaded by stopping temporarily the operations of a cam which is driven by a step motor and a pair of rods which are attached to and detached from each other in accordance with drive of the cam during following actions of these cam and rods. CONSTITUTION:For cam line diagrams of both sides 13A and 13B of a cam 12, two inflection points A and B exist between a load state L and an unload state U. With a shift from right to left, the drive of a step motor 8 is temporarily stopped first at the point A to stop the revolution of the cam 12 when a head 1 is loaded. Therefore the head 1 stops at a position with a margin where the head 1 has no contact with medium surfaces 6A and 6B respectively. The changing factors of cam surfaces 13A and 13B between points A and B are smaller than that between the state U and the point A. This can reduce the speed of collision between the head 1 and surfaces 6A, 6B in a landing mode. Furthermore the harmful vibrations can be satisfactorily attenuated at the tip of the head 1 to ensure the safe landing since the cam 12 stops temporarily at the point A before landing.
