Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled material suitable for a cutting tool adapted to a hardly cut material, obtained by containing carbonitride of a metal belonging to the Group IVa, Va and VIa of the Periodic Table, carboboronitride of Al, a specific ferrous metal and a platinum group metal in cubic boron nitride in a specific ratio.

CONSTITUTION: A material containing 10W60wt% one kind or more carbides and nitrids of a metal belonging to the group IVa and Va of the Periodic Table, carbide of a metal belonging to the group VIa and, further, a solid solution thereof, 1W30wt% one kind or more carbides, nitrides and borides of Al, 1W 10wt% Ni, Co or Fe and 1W10wt% one kind or more Pd, Pu or Rh and comprising the remainder 30W90vol% cubic boron nitride and inevitable impurities is prepared. From this material, an ultra-high pressure sintered material excellent in anti-wear property, toughness, welding resistance and heat shock resistance is obtained.
