PURPOSE: To provide a composite sintered material optimumly used, especially, in the sliding part of an automobile component and excellent in anti-wear property and seizure resistance, which comprises a TiN particle and Al (alloy) in a predetermined wt. ratio and has a blow hole ratio prescribed by uniform dispersion of the TiN particle.
CONSTITUTION: Acetone is added to a mixture consisting of 65W95wt% TiN powder and 5W35wt% Al powder or Al alloy powder respectively having particle sizes of 200mesh or less and the obtained mixture is subjected to wet mixing in a mixer such as a ballmill. By this mixing treatment, the surface of the TiN particle is coated with the Al (alloy) powder. In the next step, a binding material such as paraffin dissolved in a solvent such as acetone is added to the resulting mixed powder in an amount of 0.5W2.0wt% to carry out sufficient kneading. Subsequently, the kneaded mixture is dried to remove the solvent therefrom and pressed and molded into a predetermined shape under compression force of 1.0W6t/cm2. The obtained molded body is preliminarily sintered at 200W400°C in a protective atmosphere such as N2 or vacuum to remove the binding material and thereafter completely sintered at a temp.(680°C or more) of the m.p. or more of Al (alloy) in the same atmosphere as mentioned above to obtain an objective composite sintered material.
