Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the electric resistance of a carbon anode and the radiation of heat from the anode by connecting electrically and strongly the anode to a bus bar with tee-shoes, connecting the tee-shoes to the anode with pins, and making the cross section of the parts of the pins inserted into the anode larger than that of the other parts not inserted. CONSTITUTION:The titled anode rod is composed of a carbon anode 3, tee-shoes 1 for electrically connecting the anode 3 to a bus bar and supporting the weight of the anode 3, and pins 2 extending from the tee-shoes 1 and inserting the tips into the anode 3 to connect the tee-shoes 1 to the anode 3. The cross-sectional area of the parts of the pins 2 inserted into the anode 3 is made larger than that of the other parts not inserted. By this structure the electric resistance of the anode and the radiation of heat from the anode are reduced.
