Title:
MANUFACTURE OF SILVER (II) OXIDE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59101766
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the work efficiency and stabilize the quality of a silver (II) oxide battery by stirring a molded body containing silver (II) oxide particles in alkaline aqueous solution containing over the solubility limit of lead oxide to form a lead dioxide layer over the surface of the molded body.

CONSTITUTION: After mixture consisting of silver (II) oxide powder and silver ( I ) oxide powder used as a positive active material is pressed and molded, the molded body is stirred in treatment solution prepared by adding 20g of lead oxide to 1,000ml of 30wt% aqueous caustic-potash solution to form a lead dioxide layer over the surface of the molded body. After that, a positive electrode 1 formed by the use of the thus obtained body is combined with a negative electrode 6 containing amalgamated zinc as an active material, a separator 3 and an electrolyte-absorbing body 4 thereby constituting a button-type silver (II) oxide battery. As a result, owing to the existence of an excessive quantity of lead oxide in the alkaline aqueous solution, the quantity of lead dioxide deposited and adhering to the molded body is not varied by repetitive use of the treatment solution thereby enabling the work efficiency of the battery to be improved.
