PURPOSE: To form a recessed and protruded pattern in multiple stages by combining uniform recesses and protrusions formed by a foaming paste and ruggedness of ink patterns cont. a foaming inhibitor.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of a base material 1 consisting of paper, a resinous film, an inorganic plate, etc. is optionally patterned by using an ink 2 contg. a forming inhibitor, and a forming paste 3 is applied thereon in the rugged form. When the foaming paste 3 is foamed by heating, the part of the paste on the ink 2 contg. the foaming inhibitor is not foamed to form a recessed part 4, and the other part is normally foamed to form a protruded part 5. In addition, a foaming base material, for example, can be used as the base material, and the multistage rugged patterns can be formed only by a printing means.
