PURPOSE: To issue plural sheets of a totalization label without deterioration of operability by deciding the necessity for clearing of a totalization register and the next issue of labels from whether or not a totalization print command is detected during execution of the print.

CONSTITUTION: When a subtotal switch 1 is operated, a print command P1 is produced. Then the command P1 is applied to a print start terminal TPS of a printer controller 5. Thus the controller 5 starts a printing action. As a result, a label to which the contents of a subtotal register 2 are printed is issued. Then a reset signal P2 is produced at a print end terminal Tend2 of the controller 5, and the contents of the register 2 are cleared. If the switch 1 is operated while a label is printed, the restart is given by applying a print command P3 obtained by the switch 1 to the terminal TPS. As a result, no signal P2 is produced at the terminal Tend immediately after a print label is issued. Therefore the register 2 is not cleared.
