PURPOSE: To obtain a titled device inexpensive in its initial investment and stable in its operation by constituting the device so as to bring side frames, made to hold work rolls between them through the roll chocks of work rolls, into contact with the column-part of a housing freely turnably and vertically slidably through circular-arcuate guide faces.

CONSTITUTION: In a cross rolling mill constituted so as to displace work rolls 8, 8' through respective pairs of upper and lower side frames 44, 44a, 44', 44a' which are locked to backup roll chocks 7, 7a to hold work roll chocks 9, 9a between them in a housing 1; a cross driving device is provided, which is constituted by projectingly installing a guide member 45, having a curved face 45a equivalent to a cylindrical face whose center is a vertical axis which passes through the axial center (o) of roll 7, on the sides A, B at the front and back in the rolling direction of side frames 44, 44a, and bringing the curved face 45a into contact with the column-parts 1aWd of housing 1, and turning and vertically moving the side frame 44, etc. by actuating jacks 48a, b, etc. which engage flanges 50 with beams 47, etc.
