PURPOSE: To execute the layout of an original by confirming visually the surface side of the original, and also to cause no position shift of the original even if an original cover abuts on a platen glass, by providing a means for sticking the original to the surface abutting on the platen glass of the original cover.

CONSTITUTION: On the upper face of an electrophotographic copying machine body 10, a platen glass 2 for placing an original is placed, and also, a positioning register guide 6 is fixed to one end of the platen glass 2, and indexes such as "A3", "A4", "B4", etc. corresponding to a size of the original are formed on the surface of the register guide 6. As for an original cover 1, its one side is fixed so as to be freely turnable to the upper face of the copying machine body 10 by a hinge 5, also the rear side of the original cover is formed by an electrically insulating sheet, and an original position mark 4 corresponding to the index formed on the register guide 6 is formed on said sheet. In such a state, when a DC power source is applied to a conductor, the insulating sheet is electrified, therefore, if the original is made to contact to the insulating sheet, the original is adsorbed to the sheet. In this way, a layout can be executed easily by confirming visually the surface of the original.
