PURPOSE: To improve the current characteristic of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery at low temperatures by using as the negative electrode, lithium containing an increased amount of Ca.

CONSTITUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery is constituted by using lithium as a negative electrode 3, manganese dioxide or carbon 6 and nonaqueous solution as electrolyte. In such a battery, the negative electrode is prepared from lithium containing 200∼1,000ppm of Ca. As a result, the current characteristic of the lithium battery at low temperature can be greatly improved. In addition, a large-current-adding function can be given to an electronic apparatus to be used and the size of the battery especially its outer diameter can be reduced.
