PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer without requiring the addition of a special additive for improving the rigidity thereof, by using a combination of a specific reaction product of Al with Ti, an electron donor and an electron acceptor with an organoaluminum compound and an aromatic carboxylic ester.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst prepared by the combination of a solid product (III) obtained by reacting a solid product (II) prepared by reacting an organoaluminum compound (I), e.g. (C2H5)2AlCl, or a reaction product thereof (VI) with an electron donor (A), e.g. (C2H5)2O, with TiCl4 with the component (A) and an electron acceptor (B), e.g. TiCl4, an organoaluminum compound (IV), e.g. (C2H5)2AlCl, and an aromatic carboxylic ester (V), e.g. methyl p-toluylate, at 0.2W10.0 molar ratio between the components (V) and (III) to give the aimed polymer.
