PURPOSE: To prevent effectively org. compds. from being deteriorated by oxidation, by blending xanthene or its derivative having a hydrogen atom at position 9 with an org. compd. when the org. compds. are exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A xanthene (derivative) of the formula (wherein R1WR8 are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, etc.; R9 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, carboxyl, carboalkoxy, etc.) is prepd. 0.001W10pts.wt. said xanthene (derivative) is blended with 100pts.wt. org. compd. such as polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. By blending the xanthene (derivative), the org. compd. can be prevented from being deteriorated by oxidation, even when it is exposed to a high-temperature (250°C or above) atmosphere. Examples of the compds. of the formula are xanthene, 2,7- dimethylxanthene, etc.
