Title:
MANUFACTURE OF UNNORMALIZED NI STEEL FOR LOW TEMPERATURE USE WITH SUPERIOR TOUGHNESS AT HIGH HEAT INPUT WELDED JOINT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5980717
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture economically the titled Ni steel by heating a low carbon steel billet contg. Si, Mn, Nb and Ni as well as S and N restricted to small amounts to a high temp. and hot rolling the billet under specified conditions.

CONSTITUTION: A steel billet consisting of, by weight, 0.005W0.10% C, 0.05W0.9% Si, 0.3W2.0% Mn, ≤0.010% S, 0.002W0.010% Nb, 0.2W4.0% Ni, ≤0.004% N and the balance essentially Fe is heated to 900W1,150°C and hot rolled at ≥30% total draft in a temp. range below the recrystallization temp. of austenite. The steel billet may further contain ≥1 kind among 0.1W1.0% Cr, 0.05W0.50% Mo, 0.1W 1.0% Cu, 0.002W0.030% Ti, 0.005W0.100% V, 0.001W0.010% Ca and 0.001W0.010% La+Ce.
