PURPOSE: The polymerization of a specific polyol and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer gives a polymeric polyol having good curing properties with a less amount of a catalyst and giving polyurethane foamed products of high physical and thermal characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: The copolymerization is conducted using (A) 100pts.wt. of polyether polyol of 20W50 hydroxyl value and 2W6 functional groups which is prepared by adding an alkylene oxide such as prophylene oxide to a compound with 2 or more active hydrogen atoms such as ethylene glycol and has 8W30wt% of polyoxyethylene chains on the chain terminals and 50W25wt% of random polyoxyalkylene containing oxyethylene groups and oxypropylene groups at a weight ratio of 90/10W30/70 on the inside of molecular chains where the alkylene chains are located on the terminal more than 60% of the total molecular weight and (B) 2W70pts. of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer such as acrylonitrile.
