PURPOSE: To form easily a titled sleeve and to improve dimensional accuracy by placing a metal flask via a plate-shaped lower sleeve having the inside diameter smaller than the inside diameter of a casting mold on the top surface of the mold and pressing plate-shaped split type upper sleeves to the perpendicular inside wall of the metal flask.
CONSTITUTION: A flat lower sleeve 3 having the outside diameter larger than the inside diameter of a casting mold and having the square-shaped inside diameter 5 similar to the mold 1 is placed on the top surface 2 of the mold 1 and further, a metal flask 7 of which the lower and 8 has the similar shape of the upper shape 6 of the sleeve 3 is placed and the horizontal part 4 of the sleeve 3 is press fitted to the surface 2. Split type upper sleeves 10 are then pressed to the perpendicular wall 9 of a metal flask 7 and corner pieces 11 are driven from above to fix closely the sleeves to the inside wall 9 without producing any space. Heat insulating or exothermic members are used for the sleeves 3, 10 and heat insulating and elastic members are used for the pieces 11. The sleeve is thus easily formed, dimentional accuracy is improved and the deformation and crack in the stage of pouring a molten steel are obviated.
