Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce effectively the concn. of P in low Si molten iron to a very low level with a small amount of a refining agent by dephosphorizing the molten iron twice.

CONSTITUTION: When molten iron kept at 1,200W1,450°C is dephosphorized with a CaO-base refining agent, the molten iron is adjusted to ≤0.2% concn. of Si and roughly dephosphorized in the 1st stage. The roughly dephosphorized molten iron is subjected to finish dephosphorization with said refining agent in the 2nd stage. Thus, the concn. of P in the molten iron can be effectively reduced to ≤50ppm.
