Title:
AUTOMATIC PICTURE QUALITY ADJUSTING CIRCUIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6021674
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce picture noise without deteriorating the entire picture quality and sharpness by decreasing the picture quality peaking amount of a black level and a white level portion of an input signal less than the picture quality peaking amount of other portions.

CONSTITUTION: A video signal via a tuner and an IF circuit is subject to peaking operation by being entered through a picture quality adjusting circuit 1 and applied to a cathode ray tube 3 with video amplification 2. On the other hand, the video signal is also given to a white level deciding circuit 4 and a black level deciding circuit 7 to decide the white level and black level portions in the input signal. Then damper circuits 5, 6 are operated by the deciding signal to reduce the picture quality peaking amount of the circuit 1 automatically. Thus, noise at the white level and black level portions is reduced and the deterioration in the picture quality due to the noise of these portions is prevented.
