PURPOSE: Pigment having improved coloring characteristics, applicable for both oil and aqueous uses, having improved gloss, obtained by integrating nonmetallic inorganic flaky pigment and insoluble type organic pigment with an inclusion or colored insoluble metal phosphate or insoluble metal borate.

CONSTITUTION: For example, (A) a suspension of nonmetallic inorganic flaky pigment (e.g., granulated mica powder, etc.) is blended with (B) a suspension of (i) insoluble type organic pigment, and, if necessary, (ii) a surface active agent. This aqueous suspension is blended with (C) a solution of an insoluble metal phosphate of magnesium, etc., (D) a solution of an insoluble metal borate or (E) a solution of complex of an insoluble metal phosphate and borate, to give the desired pigment.
