Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance data transfer rate in a semiconductor memory without necessitating the increase of hardware memory device and to protect stored data from becoming error even if data transfer is interrupted by providing the semiconductor memory with the function that when writing a data block in the data memory, old data to be updated by the writing is read out and written in an old data buffer memory.

CONSTITUTION: Although new data is written directly in a data memory 11, since old data in the memory 11 is stored in a buffer memory 16, even if the writing is interrupted during writing a data block, by reading data from the buffer memory 16 and writing the data in the memory 11 the old data in the memory 11 can be restored and data in memory 11 does not become a parity error or the like. With this, the semiconductor can enhance data transfer rate without inducing the increase of hardware device and even if operating interruption occurs in the semiconductor memory, stored data does not cause error.
