PURPOSE: To prevent seizure of a turning shaft, by opening an on-off valve when lubrication of a turbocharger becomes abnormal.
CONSTITUTION: When an oil pump 25 has caused some trouble or when clogging or oil leakage is caused in an oil passage 11 on the upstream side of a bearing 10, a control circuit 24 detects from the output of an oil pressure sensor 23 that the oil pressure is lowered and lubrication has become abnormal and gives a driving signal to a solenoid 19. Resultantly, the solenoid 19 opens a waste gate valve 14 fully by moving a diaphragm 15a of a diaphragm means 15 forcibly to the right. At the same time, the control circuit 24 gives a driving signal also to a solenoid 22 to open an on-off valve 21 in a by-pass passage 20 on the intake side. Intake air is supplied to an engine 1 via an air cleaner 6, an intake passage 2a, the by-pass passage 20 and an intake passage 2b, while exhaust gas is discharged to the outside via an exhaust passage 3a, a by-pass passage 13 and an exhaust passage 3b.
