Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a Cu alloy having ≥25% IACS electric conductivity and maintaining 80% of the initial hardness after heating at ≥500°C for 5min by adding specified amounts of Ni, Si, Mn, Zn and Sn to Cu.

CONSTITUTION: The composition of an alloy ingot is composed of, by weight, 3W3.5% Ni, 0.5W0.9% Si, 0.02W1% Mn, 0.1W5% Zn, 1W2% Sn and the balance Cu. The ingot is hot worked and cooled from ≥600°C at ≥15°C/sec cooling rate. It is cold worked, annealed at 400W550°C for 5minW4hr, and subjected to temper finish rolling and tension annealing at 400W550°C for 5W60sec.
