Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled electrode causing no leak between it and other electrode and orienting properly liq. crystal molecules by forming an orienting film of an org. photosensitive resin on the surface of a glass substrate for an electrode having an electrically conductive transparent film on the surface.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of a glass substrate for an electrode having an electrically conductive transparent film of SnO2, In2O3 or the like formed on the prescribed part of the surface is cleaned by washing with an org. solvent, and the cleaned surface is covered with an org. photosensitive resin by dipping or coating. A linear slit is continuously moved parallel to the substrate at a constant speed, and light is irradiated through the slit while being put out at fixed intervals to sweep the surface of the substrate. The photosensitive resin is then cured, the substrate is washed, and the surface of the resin is densely grooved in one direction to form an orienting film of the photosensitive resin.
