PURPOSE: To obtain a uniform thickness of an ingot by setting the static pressure between belts which form a mold and synchronize with the ingot and means for ejecting cooling liquid which cool and support the belts according to the static pressure of molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 2 is admitted into a synchronous type continuous casting machine consisting of inside and outside belts 3, 4 and side face guiding plates 22. An ingot 24 forming a solidified shell is further cooled with guiding devices consisting of belts 5, 6. Cooling water enters from the inlet 28 of the quide, for example, guide 21b, on the rear surfaces in the parts of the respective parts which touch and support the ingot 24, and forms water films 26, thereby cooling the belt 5. Here various pressures in recesses 27 are obtained by using an inflow port 29 as a restrictor and changing the sectional area thereof. Thus the pressures in the respective recesses are so set as to conform to the static pressure of the molten metal changing with depth. Since the belts are supported by the pressure conforming to the static pressure of the molten metal, the ingot of high quality is produced surely.
