PURPOSE: To smoothly transport a paper sheet and prevent the generation of jam caused by the bending of the paper sheet, by installing an urging means which urges a deflecting hook to a paper discharge roller side and whose urging power is set smaller than the contact force between the deflecting hook and the paper sheet discharged from a paper discharge roller.

CONSTITUTION: The urging power of a deflecting hook 7 is set smaller than the contact force between a paper sheet P and the deflecting hook 7 by an urging spring 10. Accordingly, the deflecting hook 7 which contacts the paper sheet P is shifted to the downstream side in the paper transport direction, and the paper sheet P is smoothly transported free from bending, and at the same time, the generation of jam caused by the bending of the paper sheet P can be prevented beforehand.
