Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable to perform steering through rapid and reliable release of a steer angle from fixing upon the occurrence of emergency, by a method wherein, when a steering force, exceeding a given value, is exerted on an outboard machine, a single breaking region is formed at an engaging body or an engaging piece. CONSTITUTION:Under a state in that a steering force, exceeding a given value, is exerted on an outboard machine body, an engaging groove 23 and a notch part 23 of an engaging body 22 form a single break region A thereat, and are capable of dividing the engaging body 22 into two parts of a body part 22X and a separation part 22Y. In case steering is emergently needed under a condition in that a steer angle is fixed, a steering force exceeding a given value is exerted on a steering handle control part 20, an engaging piece 22 is pressed with force- against the engaging groove 23 of the engaging body 22 to break the engaging piece 22 in a break region A. This divides the engaging piece 22 into two parts to release the engaging body 22 from engagement with the engaging piece 22, resulting in the possibility of an outboard machine to rotate around a swivel bracket 14, or in the possibility to perform steering.
