EXAMPLE: 6-Keto-PGD1 methyl ester.
USE: An antitumor agent.
PROCESS: A compound of formula I wherein [A] is group of formula II or formula III can be prepared by hydrolyzing the compound of formula VII (R3 is 1- ethoxyethyl, etc.; R4 is lower alkyl) under acidic condition. The product wherein [A] is group of formula II can be converted to anothr compound of formula I wherein [A] is group of formula IV by reacting in an aqueous solution of an acid.
