PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus capable of obtaining a stable hermetically closed state by certainly and closely bringing a cap member into contact with a printing head, constituted by such a structure that the cap member supported by a support arm in a freele rotatably manner is moved so as to be cooperated with the movement of a carriage.

CONSTITUTION: A cap member 11 is supported in a freely rotatable manner by one end of the support arm 14 pivotally supported in a freely rotatable manner by the shaft 19 of a base table 16 and the arm 14 is energized around the shaft 19 to a counterclockwise direction by a coil spring 21 and the liquid of a solvent tank 15 which is rotated to a clockwise direction when a carriage is engaged with the protruded piece 14C of said arm 14 is guided into the cap member 11 by a sheet 22 for supplying a solvent. By uniting the solvent tank 15, the base table 16, the support arm 14 and the cap member 11, assembling is facilitated and the exchange in repairing is simply performed.
