Title:
ENCODING SYSTEM OF COORDINATE SIGNAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58151174
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an encoding system of coordinate signals having high encoding efficiency, by changing the number of bits assigned in relative encoding suitably.

CONSTITUTION: An area assigned for a DPCM code is prepared for several kinds (D1, D2, D3) and when a coordinate point (p) encoded newly exists in the area of the DPCM code, the area indicating code and the address indicating code in the area are transmitted in encoding. In this case, each area is determined based on the probability of generation of each lattice point on the relative coordinate. Further, when the encoded coordinate point (p) is at the outside of the DPCM area, the PCM code for absolute coordinate indication is given. As the constitution of code, the codes in log2N-bit are required for the area indication, where N is the tone area number including the area assigning the PCM codes. In the figure, the code constitution used for this invention is shown as an example of N=4. The head 3-bit represents 2-bit for the area indication and 1-bit for pen on/off.
