Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound, safely, in high yield and purity, by reacting 2-halogeno-3,5-dinitrothiophene with ammonium salt of a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid, or hexamethylenetetramine in an organic solvent.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is prepared by reacting 2-halogeno-3,5- dinitrothiophene of formula (X is Cl or Br) with ammonium salt of a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid of formula R1COONH4 (R1 is H or lower alkyl such as methyl, ethyl, linear or branched propyl, butyl, etc.) or hexamethylenetetramine in a solvent such as dioxane, benzene, chloroform, etc. at 0W50°C, preferably 10W30°C.

USE: Useful as a diazo component of monoazo dye having blueWnavy blue color.
