PURPOSE: To obtain the titled product ideal for vehicle friction material to a high efficiency by pressing a constantly thick rubber sheet and a constantly thick cord sheet together continuously with a roller or the like so that a rubber plastic material is attached to a group of cords at a fixed rate once without use of any solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Asbestos, a fiber such as glass fiber and carbon fiber or a cloth cord is impregnated and coated with a binder (e.g. phenol resin) to obtain a cord 1. On the other hand, a rubber plastic material (e.g. a kneaded product of an SBR, a filling agent, a vulcanizing agent and the like) is extruded with an extruder 2 to obtain a constantly thick rubber sheet 5. Said fiber cord 1 is scattered at random on the surface of the rubber sheet 5 to make a cord sheet 1' with a desired thickness, which is fed immediately to a pair of rollers 6 to obtain a cord sheet in which a rubber plastic material is attached to the surface of the cord sheet 1'. The sheet thus obtained is remolded to made a crude material, which is heated under a pressure within a die to obtain the intended friction material.
