Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is 3W8C cycloalkyl, aryl, 5W7C cycloalkenyl, bridged cyclic carbon group).

EXAMPLE: 2,2-Dichloro-cis-1,3-dimethylcyclopropylmethyl coumarate.

USE: Fungicide in agriculture and horticulture: espcially it shows outstanding effect against rice blast and sheath blight in rice plant. It has low-toxicity to warm-blood animals and tolerable by crops in usual dose, thus quite free from chemical injury. Further, it has a wide range of fungicidal spectra.

PREPARATION: The reaction between coumaroyl halide of formula II (Hal is halogen) and an alcohol of formula III is carried out in a solvent or diluent such as hexane or toluene in a temperature range from about -20°C to the boiling point to give the compound of formula I .
