PURPOSE: To permit the driving and drawing of a steel sheet pile with a sufficient force even when an obstruction is present in the upper space by a method in which a vertical chuck is provided at the lower end of an oil-pressure vibro device provided at the tip of the regulating arm of a self-running machine and also a horizontal chuck is provided to the upper sideway portion.

CONSTITUTION: A vertical chuck 4 is provided to the lower end of an oil-pressure vibro device 3 provided at the tip of the regulating arm 2 of a self-running machine 1, e.g., oil-pressure shovel, etc., having an endless rail with a prime mover, and a horizontal chuck 5 is provided to the upper sideway portion. The side flange of a steel sheet pile 6 is clutched by the horizontal chuck 5, the device 3 is actuated to give it a vertical vibration load from side direction in such a way as to ensure an upper space to some extent, and then the chuck is exchanged and the vertical chuck 4 is attached to the top of the steel sheet pile 6. Again, the device 3 is actuated and the sheet pile is driven finally by giving it a sufficient vibration load in the vertical direction.
