Title:
X-RAY FLUORESCENT MULTIPLIER TUBE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6030040
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the contrast characteristics of an X-ray fluorescent multiplier tube by removing part of a core material existing in the light emitting surface of the fiber plate constituting a fluorescent screen so as to form concaves in it and installing the fluorescent screen in close contact with the inner surface of an output window glass.

CONSTITUTION: An X-ray fluorescent multiplier tube or a similar member is made by installing a phosphor layer 7, an input screen 2 having a photoelectric surface 8 and an output screen 4 having an output phosphor layer 10 in a vacuum envelope 1. The output screen 4 is made by forming a phosphor layer 10 on the light incidence surface of a fiber plate 11 and removing part of the core material 14 existing in the light emitting surface of the fiber plate 11 by selective etching or a similar method to form concaves 21; the fiber plate 11 has a cross section consisting of a core material 14 forming main light-transmitting areas, a coating material 15 and an absorber layer 16. The output screen 4 installed in close contact with the inner surface 24 of the output window glass 25 of the multiplier tube. As a result, areas of emission can be restricted only to the upper surface areas 22 of the core material 14 and the influence of Fresnel reflection is prevented by the window glass 25, thereby improving the contrast characteritics.
