PURPOSE: To eliminate defects of electrode forming and to improve flatness of an end face forming thermal elements by a method wherein an end surface of separate electrode forming a side of thermal base plate is beveled largely while that of a common electrode forming side is beveled to be small sized.
CONSTITUTION: An electrically insulated layer 19 with a smaller heat conductivity than that of a thermal base is formed on a base end face 15 and tip planes 17 and 18, while a thermal element array 20 is formed on an insulating layer 19 of a base end face 15. In this case, when an insulating layer 19 is a glazed layer or the like and an end face 17 is small sized, a discontinuous state of the glaze is caused by a surface tension of glaze layer, thereby a breaking of separate electrode is liable to be caused. On the other hand, because a tip plane 18 is a β-electrode, even if it is small sized, no breaking is coused. Acordingly, by obtaining a necessary flatness of thermal unit 20 to be formed on the face 15, with an enlarged surface 17 side, electrode forming defect can be eliminated.
