Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are lower alkyl; X is halogen).
EXAMPLE: 1,3-Dimethyl-2-chloro-imidazolimium chloride.
USE: A condensing agent for esterification reactions.
PROCESS: A 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinone of formula II is reacted with a halogenating agent in a solvent, e.g. CCl4, at room temperature W70°C for several W some ten hr to give the compound of formula I .
