PURPOSE: To control power of a reclaimer operating device by measuring a distance from a boom to piles for allowing a bucket wheel to go down to a landing position, monitoring and controlling the boom and other objects so as not to make contact with each other, and controlling step changes and automatic continuous cut.
CONSTITUTION: A reclaimer 1 is automatically stopped when reaching the nieghbourhood of a landing point 22 and adapted to set an elevation position of a boom 3 to a height of a cut bench, effect boom contact prevention confirming operation with use of a range finding sensor 5, and force the range finding sensor 4 of the boom 3 to measure a horizontal distance to a landing position of piles. A control device estimates a moving distance to a landing position 23 of the reclaimer 1 based on a signal from the sensor 4, and effects landing control for guiding the tip of the boom to the landing position. Namely, it confirms the landing of the wheel on the piles by making use of changes in a drive current of the bucket wheel, and controls initiation of the cut operation. Further, a distance by which the boom 3 go back is detected beforehand by the sensor 7, while a bench 31 to be subsequently cut is detected by a sensor 8.
