PURPOSE: To carry out the multicore batch cutting of optical fibers by pressing a cutting box and applying a cutting edge to the surfaces of plural parallel optical fibers successively.
CONSTITUTION: The blade 2 having a downward circular-arcuate edge 3 in the cutting box 1 is provided engaging a shaft 6 by a spring 7. The coating end 23 of a tape-shaped optical fiber core 22 wherein terminal parts of plural optical fibers 20 are exposed by removing a protection coating 21 on a leaf spring 10 is set abutting to a stop member 15 and then the box 1 is pressed down, so that a press plate 13 abuts to the optical fibers 20 firstly. Then, the optical fiber core 22 and leaf spring 10 are held and drawn out to the front side and the optical fibers are squeezed with the press plate to be arrayed orderly; and the box is further pressed and the optical fibers 20 are given cutting flaws by the cutting edge 2. Then, the leaf spring 10 and core 22 are bent on a slanting surface 16 to cut the optical fibers 20 at the cutting flaws at a time.
