NEW MATERIAL:A naphthostyril derivative of formulaI[R1 is H, lower alkyl, aryl; R2 is amino, NHCOR3 (R3 is lower alkyl, aryl); X is anion such as perchlorate ion, chlorine ion, or fluoroborate ion].
EXAMPLE: 8-Aminobenz[3,4]indolo[2,1-b]thiazolium perchlorate.
USE: Fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purpose: it shows high controlling effect against a wide range of phytopathogenic microorganisms such as or rice blast, rice sheath blight, wheat brown rust or cucumber gray mold.
PREPARATION: For example, thionaphthostyril of formula II is dispersed in chloroacetonitrile or α-chlorophenylacetonitrile and their reaction is carried out. Then, the product is made to react with perchloric acid or its salt to give the compound of formula III. The compound is acylated in the presence of a catalyst such as benzoic acid to give the compound of formulaIwhere R2 is -NHR3 and X is ClO4.
